Prayer to Saint Anthony

I was reading my social media newsfeed and saw where a friend had lost a sentimental pair of RayBan sunglasses. He wasn’t sure where he lost them but was offering a sizeable reward if anyone found them and returned them to him. I pray he finds his sentimental sunglasses. It reminded me of a prayer my Mom taught us when we lost something…

“Tony, Tony, look around <something> is lost and must be found.”

This prayer is to be repeated until the lost item is eventually found.

I have had two memorable occasions where I used this prayer. The first was after the Armed Forces Day Parade in Lawton. I chaired the celebration that year and it was a very busy event. We had lots of volunteers that helped with everything. The event was held in Elmer Thomas Park in Lawton OK. We were all over that park that day. The celebration ended with a concert in the park (Michael Peterson was the headliner). My parents had come down from South Dakota to visit. I had sent them home with my husband while the team stayed to clean up the park at the end of the day. Joslin, one of the volunteers, had lost her keys. We had been all over that park all day long. No telling where she had lost them. Michael’s entire road crew even stayed behind to help us find them. I walked around that park repeating that prayer over and over. It was dark and we thought it impossible to find those keys. Joslin, knowing that my parents were here visiting, said “Go home Nancy! We will find them.” I reluctantly headed back to my truck to head home; repeating the prayer as I walked back to my vehicle. As I approached my truck I dropped my keys and there, right where I dropped my keys, were the keys that Joslin had lost! I still get goose bumps just thinking about it.

The second memorable time I had lost my very expensive new glasses. I looked everywhere for them; in my car, in the truck, every place I could think of in the house. I repeated my prayer over and over again until my husband was sick of hearing it. I looked for a couple days. Then, one morning as I was getting ready for work, I began repeating the prayer again. I had my purse on the dining room table; I grabbed for my keys out of my purse and dropped them on the dining room chair. I pulled out the chair and there were my glasses!

Thank you Saint Anthony! So, if you’ve lost something just repeat after me…

Tony Tony look around, <something> is lost and must be found!

Let me know if it works for you!
